Query Explanation

The query watches the node_uname_info metric for each instance over the past hour; changes(node_uname_info[1h]) counts how many times the metric value (which includes the kernel version) has changed. If this count is greater than 0, it means the kernel version reported by that host changed within the last hour, causing the alert to fire.
